Probably because the worth is unknown. You keep telling us things, like get colony ship, it's gonna be useful or rank up cause it will effect your ships soon. But we have the colony ship and it's useless. We have ranked up and lost a lot to bugs, and it's useless. We need to know what value there is in obtaining these things. Why should we concern ourselves?
For instance, what are the benefits for EACH rank obtained through the arena? What is in the Supremacy Stars? What travel to/from those stars is restricted by the colony ship researches (Interstellar Engine / Containment System)? What are the rewards for dominating a planet? What do we get by going to war? Will Seekers have a chance in battle BEFORE the war? When are all these things happening?
We simply have no idea how valuable everything is because you never tell us. If we knew the benefits for ranking, we might be fighting tooth and nail for these rewards and in the arena (or we may abandon it completely if it's not worth it).
You may not be able to give us specifics, we understand that. But if you could give us the overview, like where the game will be in six months and what new features it will have, we might stick around to enjoy things.
I'd personally like to see you start one thing and keep updating that until it is finished before going to the next idea. I.e. Colony ship research -> Colony Ship -> Supremacy Stars -> Colonization of Supremacy Stars. Then go to War -> Planet Domination -> System Domination. Maybe in the middle Fix Arena -> Rank up -> Benefits of Ranking. And so on. It doesn't help to go Colony ship research -> War -> Benefits of Ranking -> Planet Domination -> Fix Arena -> Supremacy Stars -> Rank up -> System Domination -> Colonization of Supremacy Stars. We lose interest like this. And that's what you are currently doing. Why should we be worrying about ranking up right now when the war is about to start? Why are we holding forts and researching the colony ship when the supremacy stars are just a myth at this point?
I'm sure you guys know of Eve Online (since you've stolen several of their images). Did you know that one of reasons people like the game is because they know almost everything that is happening? They know ever dev, every office, even the favorite foods of the cleaning staff. Every week, one or more devs publishes a blog on what they are working on, how it effects the game play, what it means to the players, why something is happening, what to expect in the next release, and so on. I mean, I was a nobody in that game, yet I had conversations with several developers. They explained all kinds of things, they took our thoughts and ideas to heart (remember the design a star ship contest you had? They actually carried through on theirs), and they played the game alongside us. |
